Films about Writing

In the middle of a movies-about-writers kick (excluding, for my current purposes, movies about screenwriters and playwrights, and movies about writers derived from the work of Stephen King, which are both multitudinous and wholely different kettles of fish, I think).

Here’s what I’ve got at the moment—movies about writers both fictional and real, movies where writing and writerliness are sometimes central, sometimes incidental—presented without commentary or judgement (since that’s also not in keeping with my current purposes): Sylvia, Naked Lunch, Iris, Before Night Falls, Shadowlands, Barfly, Quills, The Hours, Swimming Pool, The Basketball Diaries, Croupier, The Man from Elysian Fields, Mrs. Parker and the Vicious Circle, Deconstructing Harry, Impromptu, Out of Africa, Henry & June, Tom and Viv, The Sheltering Sky, Wonder Boys, Finding Forrester.

Addendum: neglected others: Dangerous Beauty, The Pillow Book, The Disappearance of Garcia Lorca, The World According to Garp, The Gambler. Thanks to all who wrote with your suggestions. Much appreciated!
